Where Do We Go From Here? by Pinqy Ring – Creative Activism

Creative Activism can take a variety of forms and mediums.  Regarding violence, Chicago Hip Hop Artist, Pinqy Ring has put heart to pen, pen to paper to ask the question, “Where Do We Go From Here?”

Per Pinqy’s website about “Where Do We Go From Here?

“A city so readily identified as “Chiraq” is a city that needs immediate help, and not from some Brooklyn film director. “Where Do We Go From Here?” is a song that was born in desperation. From 9 year old Tyshawn Lee being lured into an alley and gunned down, to 17 year old Laquan McDonald being shot 16 times by the Chicago Police, the issue of violence in Chicago is a pressing one that Pinqy Ring tackles as a born and raised Chicagoan who has lost many friends to the street battle that ensues everyday.

The song features the HHW Youth Choir (www.hhwperforms.org), and was written and arranged by Pinqy Ring, Wil Diaz and Gabriel Ramirez. The idea came about with the intention of starting/continuing an important dialogue with youth, residents, city officials and the world about our current state. The song doesn’t have all the answers, but simply poses the question: Where do we go from here?

“Where Do We Go From Here?” is available on Pinqy Ring’s debut album “Herstory: The Lost Chapters” at www.pinqyring.com.”

Take a listen and view. Imagine if more artists were to take the chance and speak on social issues. Salute to Pinqy Ring!

There’s A Price To Pay

There’s A Price To Pay

Someone is in debt.

People are owed for

forced services

There’s no receipt to

be given,

no complete barter

labor was taken for

as well as rights to live

For every hour the debt

goes unsettled

-interest rises.

Chances for a payment

plan are slim.

The full amount is due now!

For the mass physical,

psychological, historical

& other crimes intertwined

with slavery

& its after affects;

For every one of those

ways of disrespect

& those continuing

results as of now

…….…..…there will be a day.

For there’s a price to pay.
