The South Side & Afrofuturism – Books On The Reading Table

Next on the read and re-read list are two books with a Chicago connection. The first is The South Side: A Portrait of Chicago and American Segregation by Natalie Y. Moore. The author is the South Side bureau reporter for WBEZ, the NPR-member station in Chicago. Her published writing can be seen in Black Enterprise, Essence, The Chicago Reporter, the Chicago Sun-Times and the Chicago Tribune to name a few.  The South Side: A Portrait of Chicago and American Segregation contains essays and introspective narratives that highlight the community stories and those affected by historical segregation and the current policies that keep segregation in place.
